Uses and Tips
SURFACES
Our EPA Safer Choice certified, concentrated Clean Ez works so effectively it speed cleans you through any cleaning chore from countertops, to showers, to toilets and appliances. It doubles as a spot remover for clothing and carpeting and furniture.
A Fresh Look at Paint - Why Go Green?
Prior to 2003 paint was made from lead and could tolerate harsh cleaning products like liquid dish soaps and cleaners such as Simple Green or Mr. Clean. Most paints now are chroma based or water based paint, which won't withstand harsh detergents. They are deadly to fish and marine life as well and must not be used to protect our environment.
These harsh cleaners over time soften and damage the car's paint causing it to oxidize quickly. Clean with just half a cap of CleanEz or preferably just plain water. Prespray oil and grease spots with CleanEz before you begin washing.
Clean Windshield Wipers
Clean windshield wiper blades monthly with CleanEz or your organic all purpose cleaner to prevent them from smearing the windshield. It will extend the wear of the rubber which will save you the cost of frequent replacements. If they smear after cleaning then it is time to replace them.
Cleaning and Care of Decals, Stripes and Signs
Cleaning decals, stripes, and adhesive backed signs can be troublesome as they tend to oxidize and lose their color with exposure to harsh car wash products, petroleum distillates and the sun.
3M and Avery who make the material for these products advise against the use of a car wax containing petroleum distillates. Distillates dissolve the adhesive causing the decal to pull away from the side and also cause them to oxidize or lose their color.
Advantage, our waterless wash and wax, does not contain distillates to damage the decals or striping. The polymers protect again toxic cleaners and UV ray damage.
Wash your vehicle, RV or boat with CleanEz. It's gentle on the finish and decals yet tough on dirt.
If the decals or stripping are oxidizing remove it with undiluted CleanEz Then apply several coats of Advantage to protect the decals from further oxidation.
Cleaning Wheels
Clean wheels first with CleanEz or your organic cleaner. CleanEz is excellent to use on sealed wheels or plastic wheel covers. Sealed wheels look like they have several layers of a polyurethane finish. They have been popular since 2003.
Cleaning-Tires
Rubber naturally oxidizes and must be scrubbed 3 to 4 times a year to remove the oxidation. The oxidization can make the tires look like they are cracking. Scrub tires four times a year with CleanEz and a tire brush.
Tire manufacturers advise against using tire treatments. If the treatment contains petroleum distillates, those distillates over time soften the rubber and can cause blowouts. If the tire is under warranty, the warranty will not be honored as the cause of the blowout was not a manufacturing defect but the use of a tire treatment.
Add one half cap-full CleanEz and one-third cup of food grade distilled white vinegar to a 2 1/2 gallon bucket of wash water. Vinegar boosts the cleaning ability of the cleaner so you need less than half what is normally used plus it helps prevent water spots.
Looking for a fast way to bust bugs off the front? Spray them with our Advantage It dissolves bugs on contact and leaves the surface slick as well as protected from UV ray damage with polymers. After two to three applications of Advantage, bugs wipe off with water and a bit of CleanEz.
Safe Way to Wash a Car
Wash your car in the morning or evening to avoid water spots. Our Earth Friendly EPA Safer Choice Certified CleanEz quickly removes dirt, bugs, grease and oil from your vehicle. Its gentle nature is easy on your finish and even easier on Mother Earth since it contains no human or Earth damaging phosphates or other chemicals found in most cleaners.
Clean Your Boat and Protect the Water
When you do need to wash your boat, take it out of the water and use only a pressure washer. First use a rag and our CleanEz to remove oil, grime and grit. CleanEz is used and recommended by dozens of boat detailers. Then finish pressure washing your boat.
Getting Fish Stains Out
Use one half cup of hydrogen peroxide and half a capful of CleanEz to remove fish blood from surfaces. Wipe on, let it set 10 minutes add a bit of elbow grease and wipe off.
When using a pressure washer to clean your boat, first clean grease and oil by wiping on CleanEz. Let it set for 5 or 6 minutes giving it time to dissolve the grease and oil, then wipe to clean. Never rinse any cleaning agent into the water. Cleaning your boat more frequently eliminates the need for harsh cleaners.
Keep Mold Off Canvas
First scrub and clean the canvas using our White Scrubbie Pad and swivel pad holder and CleanEz, which destroys mold and mildew on both canvas and vinyl seats. Clean first with CleanEz the follow with straight peroxide or borax to finish killing any mold spores. Mix peroxide 50/50 with water. Always test for color fastness on a small area.
Swap on, wait 30 minutes then scrub once again. Rinse with a 50/50 solution of food grade distilled white vinegar and water then again with plain water. If possible allow the canvas to dry in the sun all day. Heat also kills mold. Always test peroxide in a small area before applying to the overall surface.
Depend on CleanEz for all your cleaning chores around your boat, home or RV. It's concentrated and makes 8 gallons of cleaner making it one of the safest products for our Earth and geared to save you money.
Clean Boat Propellers
After cleaning the propellers with CleanEz coat them with Teflon to keep the mold and grime off the blades. Make sure the Teflon you use does not contain petroleum distillates, which is sometimes called Aliphatic Hydrocarbon, Mineral Oil or Hydrocarbon on packages.
Green Clean a Bathroom
Cleaning a bathroom probably ranks as the number one most unpopular home cleaning chore. Let's take a look at eco-friendly solutions to putting a sparkle back in your bathroom. My primary rules of thumb to clean your bathroom:
1. Give your product time to work. Spray the surface wait 5 to 10 minutes then wipe.
Cleaning Soap Scum
Soap scum on showers and bathtubs remains the biggest challenge in any bathroom. Eliminate the soap scum buildup by switching soap. The animal fat and talc in bar soap causes the buildup. Switch to organic liquid, glycerin or organic bar soap to avoid the problem. Avoid any soap, hair shampoo or conditioner that contains sodium laurel sulfate or SLS. SLS extracts the petrochemicals out of plastic bottles turning to dioxin or Agent Orange, which is highly toxic.
Remove heavy soap scum buildup with full strength CleanEz Apply it with a light cloth. Wait 4 to 5 minutes then scrub gently with our White Scrubbie Pad dampened with water. Rinse thoroughly with water when you finish. For weekly maintenance, dilute CleanEz one ounce per 32 ounce spray bottle.
Hair spray
Remove hair spray buildup from mirrors and counter tops with CleanEz You may need to use a higher concentration of CleanEz to remove stubborn hair spray. Dilute 1 part CleanEz to 10 parts water.
Moldy shower and tub caulking
Mold grows behind caulking in the shower. Remove the caulking then clean the surface thoroughly with CleanEz Spray a second time with the CleanEz an hour later. Dry and apply new caulking.
How To Remove Mold And Mildew
Reduce mold and mildew buildup problems in the bathroom by taking shorter, cooler showers. Keep a window or door cracked open if possible.
Remove mold on walls and ceilings by spraying them with CleanEz in a dilution of 5 parts water to 1 part CleanEz. Alternately use full strength food grade distilled white vinegar. Wipe the walls then 24 hours later clean them with hydrogen peroxide. Use a fresh bottle from the store as old peroxide will not work properly.
Moldy tub and shower caulking
Mold grows behind the caulking around shower doors. Cleaners and sprays will not kill the mold. The caulking must be removed, and then clean the surface with CleanEz. Treat a second time an hour later with CleanEz. Allow to dry and apply new caulking.
Vinyl Graphics
If your boat contains adhesive backed decals, stripes, or signs, 3M and Avery who make the material for these products, specifically state not to use a wax containing petroleum distillates. They dissolve the adhesive causing the decal to pull away from the side and also cause them to oxidize or lose their color. You can safely use Advantage to clean these graphics. It will help prevent oxidation and discoloration
Remove oxidation on lettering by buying a bottle of Dow or Lysol Tub and Tile Cleaner. Or you can use CleanEz Spray on the lettering wait a few minutes and wipe to remove the oxidation. Most of the color will be restored.
How to Clean Linoleum and Vinyl Floors
Use hot water and a bit of food grade distilled white vinegar. If your floor requires a cleanser, add just a drop of CleanEz Fill a spray bottle mostly full with water add a drop of CleanEz. Spray traffic areas first to loosen the dirt before you mop with Mary Moppins Mop. Mary's Mop uses ordinary terry towels to clean. The towels are always laundered so the floor gets cleaner. Self wringing mops only move the dirt around and leave the floor sticky.
Some linoleum floors have deep grooves. Scrub the floor with a nylon bristle brush dipped in a tablespoon of CleanEz per gallon of water. Rinse with ¼ cup vinegar per gallon of water.
If your floor still looks dull or does not properly clean, it’s time to strip and wax. Head to a janitorial supply store for stripper, sealant and non-yellowing wax. Remove the wax by working in 4 foot by 4 foot sections scrubbing with a nylon brush. Repeat till the floor is finished. Rinse with a terry towel dipped in 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar per gallon of water then again with plain water. Apply the sealant allow to dry then two coats of wax allowing each to dry between applications.
Mary’s Tricks of the Trade: Remove black heel marks with a dab of toothpaste. Gum comes off by freezing it with ice. Oil and grease dissolve with concentrated CleanEz Rinse thoroughly. Melt wax with a hair dryer and wipe away with a white paper towel.
